How it works

 

If your mobile device malfunctions or is accidentally damaged (MPP+ and MPP+ featuring AppleCare Services also protects lost and stolen), you can file a Service Request by calling 1-855-562-1955 or go online within 60 days of incident. Once your request is approved, pay the applicable processing fee based on your plan and fulfillment choice of repair or replacement. You'll be up and running in no time with the ability to repair or replace your device, dependent on the incident and your plan.

For Mobile Protection Plan (MPP), protection includes Accidental Damage and Out-of-Warranty malfunction (after the manufacturer's warranty expires). For Mobile Protection Plan Plus (MPP+), protection includes Lost, Stolen, Accidental Damage, and Out-of-Warranty malfunction (after the manufacturer's warranty expires).

For Mobile Protection Plan Plus featuring AppleCare Services, protection includes Lost, Stolen, Accidental Damage, In-Warranty malfunction during the first 24 months of enrollment and Out-of-Warranty malfunction after the first 24 months of enrollment.

If you reside in Manitoba or Saskatchewan, your Mobile Protection program is a combination of insurance and service contract. For Mobile Protection Plan (MPP), the insurance provides protection for Accidental Damage. For Mobile Protection Plan Plus (MPP+), the insurance provides protection for Lost, Stolen, and Accidental Damage. For Mobile Protection Plan Plus featuring AppleCare Services, the insurance provides protection for Lost, Stolen, and Accidental Damage. The insurance is underwritten by AIG Insurance Company of Canada. The insurance portion of your protection is a contract between you and AIG Insurance Company of Canada and not Brightstar or GLENTEL Inc.

When you enroll in the program, you’ll be charged a prorated amount on your credit card based on the date of purchase to the end of the month. The monthly program Subscriber Fee will be charged by Brightstar Device Protection directly, to the same credit card on the first of each month.
For the first 24 months of enrollment, you’ll enjoy service and support direct from Apple. That means 24/7 priority access to Apple experts, Apple-certified repair or replacement, and service at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers. In the first 24 months of enrollment, Apple will fulfill a total of 2 Accidental Damage Service Requests and all In-Warranty Service Requests. Any eligible Accidental Damage Service Requests after the first 2 performed by Apple will be fulfilled by Brightstar. In addition, all Lost or Stolen Service Requests, regardless of the month of enrollment, will be fulfilled by Brightstar. After 24 months, the same, great protection applies and you’ll now be protected against Out-of-Warranty malfunctions. All Service Requests from month 25 onward will be fulfilled by Brightstar.
  1. Call 1-855-562-1955 or file online at mobileprotection.brightstarprotect.com.
  2. Provide your wireless phone number, postal code, and device manufacturer/make, as well as a detailed description of the incident or issue.
  3. Pay the applicable Processing Fee for either repair or replacement.
  4. Once approved, if repair is an option, you can choose from multiple methods (based on device and location). If you choose to replace your device, then a replacement device will be sent to you.
  5. If you had your device replaced, return your non-functioning device using the pre-paid return package provided.

Enrollment Through Month 24
The first 2 AppleCare Services accidental damage Service Requests and all in-warranty requests can be filed with Apple at any time within the first 24 months of enrollment.

  1. The best place to start is getsupport.apple.com . Just answer a few questions and you’ll be presented with options to help resolve your issue.
  2. Go to locate.apple.com. to find an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider near you.
  3. Call 1-800-APL-CARE to speak directly to an AppleCare Advisor.
  4. Pay any applicable Processing Fee.
  5. Follow the directions provided to get your device repaired or replaced.

For All Lost or Stolen Service Requests and Accidental Damage Service Requests after the first 2 that you filed with Apple, contact Brightstar. You must file these Service Requests within 60 days from the failure date.

  3. Pay the applicable Processing Fee.
  4. Follow the directions provided to get your device repaired or replaced.
  5. If your device was damaged and you receive a replacement, return the damaged device to Brightstar using the prepaid packaging provided.

Enrollment Month 25 Onward

  1. Visit Mobileprotection.brightstarprotect.com or call 1-855-562-1955.
  2. Provide information about your protected device and details about what happened.
  3. Pay the applicable Processing Fee.
  4. Follow the directions provided to get your device repaired or replaced.
  5. If your device was damaged or malfunctioning and you receive a replacement, return the damaged device to Brightstar using the prepaid packaging provided.

Your plan allows up to a total of 2 fulfillments (replacement or repair) within a rolling 12-month period for any incident or failure protected under the terms and conditions. Replacements processed under the manufacturer’s warranty are not fulfilled by Brightstar and do not count towards your Service Request limit.

First 24 Months of your enrollment, you are eligible to receive 3 approved Service Requests in any rolling 12-month period, 2 of which may be for Accidental Damage and 1 of which may be for Lost or Stolen. In-Warranty Service Requests performed during this period do not count towards this limit. All repairs and replacements will be Apple Certified. Beginning in Month 25 Onward, you are eligible for 3 approved Service Requests in any rolling 12-month period, 2 of which may be for Accidental Damage and Out-of-Warranty malfunction, and 1 of which may be for Lost or Stolen.

Location, device make/model, type of damage, and repair or replacement part availability can influence the choices of replacement vs. repair. For example, brand new models may not be available for repair right away, and certain types of damage such as liquid damage may not be eligible for repair.

Don’t worry, we have repair partners who accept devices via mail. We will send you a prepaid label, all you need to do is package your device and drop it in a Canada Post mail box. It will be repaired and returned to you within 3 to 5 business days after we’ve received it.

All repair work is guaranteed for 12 months. Simply call Brightstar at 1-855-562-1955 or go online to file your Repair Warranty Service Request.

Your replacement device will be new or reconditioned. Reconditioned devices will look and function like new devices and will have a 90-day replacement warranty. If the exact make and model of your device is not available, your replacement will be of like kind and quality, or better.

If your replacement Service Request is approved, your replacement will be shipped to you within 2 to 10 business days in Canada. You can also get it sooner or on the weekend, for an additional fee.

Mobile Protection Plus (MPP+) and Mobile Protection Plan Plus featuring AppleCare Services are offered in all provinces except for Quebec.

While our plans protect against an impressive range of incidents, there are a few exceptions. Any normal wear and tear or pre-existing damage is not protected. Other exclusions may apply.
